Default vetspet question

We have two labs, 11 and 9 years of age. We feed them Iams Weight control. They both appear to be getting dry skin. When we brush them, white flakes come up. Is there anything we can add to their diet to help them out?

low calorie diets sometimes are somewhat lacking in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids....adding some cooking oil and fish capsules may help....moisturizing their skin with a sprayer using 1-2 oz of avon skin so soft and 30 oz of water and spraying this on dog 2-4x a week(shake it first as it will settle out) helps many dogs....make sure they are on good dog food and free of worms...do not over shampoo..do not use people shampoo...if the skin is nice and white and they are not scratchin...i dont get too excited about some dandruff...steve
