Main to kicker connection with BayStar Hyd. Steering?

Currently I have just the cheapo threaded rod set up (with noise makers at both ends) connecting my Yamaha T9.9 with my Yamaha F150. To say this set up rattles is an understatement.

How do you get around the rattle? Is there a better way to connect the kicker to the main engine?

(Note: "electro" steering or auto-pilot for the kicker is not in the budget.)
