I've got that boat/motor combo. Unless you're worried (ideal conditions) about going 52 instead of 50 then the 150 will be fine. Up on plane in a snap. I'm currently propped with the Trophy Plus 19 pitch (4 blade).

If you really aren't worried about top end, for skiing you shouldn't be, just get a prop to help you do this. I agree with CCRider, you won't notice the difference, just the GPS that says you're going 2mph faster.

Would I like the 175? Yes, for sure. But for me, wasn't worth the extra $$$ and I'm completely happy. But I fish most of the time and you don't catch fish at 50 anyhow.

I run a 2009 Reata with the 175ProXS. It will run 53 - 55 on the GPS with a blueprinted 19p Tempest @ 6150 sometimes hiting rev limiter and 52 @ 5950 with a blueprinted Rev 4 19P using a 6" jackplate. I would think that if you are going to spend the extra to get a 175 you would be better off getting a 200 Pro XS If you don't care about oversizing. Ranger should have rated it for a 200 in the first place.

I installed a Hydrojacker from TH marine. When installing it is good to mount the motor in either the third or forth hole for clearances when fully trimmed. The boat ran 51-52 stock as far as top end speed i have gained 1 mph for the plate and 1 for blueprinting. I can now try a blueprinted 21P Tempest prop and see if i can turn it between 5700-5800 rpm's. The jackplate is mostly a luxury of being able to adjust engine height on the fly in a variety of conditions. I love my boat but should of spent extra for a 2050 equiped with a 250ProXS.

A 2050 is still rated for a 225hp max. But the extra room is nice.

The 1850 should be rated at 200 and the 2050 at 250 HP. It would make a LOT of people happy!

I agree it is suprising that the 2050 is not at 250H.P. Im in the market for a 2050 and if it was at 250 i would be making up my mind alot quicker.

The 2050 is my next purchase within the next year or so and i will be rigging it with a 250 regardless. I will change the stickers if need be.... As far as increasing the rating for these 2 boats Ranger would dominate the market, but would loose potential sales for the 619 and 620VS.

Cheers

I also wish it was rated for a 250, I would have had one. With rules in the states I don't want to go over the max allowed.

I'm sure different stickers will fool your insurance company as the HP is in the serial numbers (at least my 250 Pro xs's are). Good luck selling it as well you'll be in hot water when the new owners find out they can't get it insured. Why bother over a couple MPH put a killer prop on it and be done with, or buy a 620 to get your mid 60's Ranger
