Jeepman,
Here's an example of the SC1000 tach, make sure you get one with the "eyebrows" above the buttons:

If you want to buy new, I'd recommend Don Weed at European Marine. He can certainly set you up with the gauge options and cable. http://www.europeanmarine.org

Geez HRG, not easy to be able to correct you, as you are ALMOST never wrong!!
It is Don Weed. I did have a price from Don for a smartcraft tach for my 50 hp merc, a year or so ago. It was right around $350, plus the appropriate cable., which for a tiller, you would only need a 10 ft'er.
Don will want your engine serial number.
Their phone # is 864-421-0444 in Greenville, SC
If you are a member of the BBC boards, there may also be a discount of 10-20%

Jeepman,
I believe that you will not be able to get 550 rpm's out of a '05. It has to be a 2008 or newer..........I tried that on a 2007, will not work......

Jimmy Jig,
I found the thread from a couple of years ago, regarding the problem with the throttle-stop screw. I wonder if Peter8 kept filing away, to get down to the 550rpm range?

I have my 60 hp mounted on a 1968 Lund SSV 18'. Although I have fitted it w/ and electrical system and 3 batteries it's still a very light boat compared to newer models w/ livewells, storage, gas tanks etc. The motor normally idles @ around 750 rpms pushing my boat 2.2-4 mph. When I use the troll feature on the smartcraft gauge I can get the rpms down to 600 which pushes me at 1.5-6 mph. The prop I'm running is a Comprop M4323 4 blade in 10.5x11P. It's a great all around prop on my boat and pushes it to about 34mph @ 5900 rpms. I also have a Vengence SS in 13P which will push me another 3-4 mph. Follow HRG's post and get the file out !
