Default Home made blade guard

Has anybody made a blade guard for a 7" SM Lazer hand auger? Cabela's is out and there are 14.95 there. Seems like you could make one cheaper out of some pvc pipe.

Mr D
go over to lowes and pick up one of these paint mixing bucket.

http://www.lowes.com/pd_194347-84240...cket&facetInfo=

or Home depot:
http://www.homedepot.com/Paint-Paint...specifications+

The dimensions of the bucket are 9 inches high and 9 inches in diameter so it will work for up to 9 inch augers.

Take off the handle of the bucket.

Drill a couple of 1/4 inch holes across from each other at the top of the bucket.

Then, take a bungee cord.
Drop the auger into the bucket, hook the bungee cord into one of the holes, run over to the center of the auger, and take a wrap around the auger and hook the bungee into the other hole in the bucket.

You have your shield for about $4.

Be safe
Roger

When the wife goes shopping, go to the kitchen cupboard and look for a nice tupperwear bowl that fits your auger. Drill two holes on the edge for a bungee cord. Good Luck or R.I.P.

Thumbs up x two

Both really good ideas. I might try a garage sale rather than the wife's bowl supply--there's no "lucky" in my nickname. . .
