Default Verado Tiller Shifting

I find the Opti 175 with the Mercury big tiller power steering very noisy when shifting gears. Is the Verado with the Mercury big tiller power steering tiller smoother and quieter when shifting gears?

Garry,
Do you know which hub kit you have? It appears as though the Flo-Torq III & IV kits, with the 2-piece insert, help minimize the "klunk" when shifting into gear. http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/005155.html

HRG,

I don't own a 175 Opti. I was a passenger in a boat but I noticed that every time the owner shifted gears is was very noisy.

In our group of boats 4 are dts and 2 are not, with the dts a bit smoother. Some of us had a few issues with noise&shifting in the past but were all worked out with help from others with similar problems.Very smooth, and trouble free when you get it right.Chico

Chico,

"Some of us had a few issues with noise&shifting in the past but were all worked out with help from others with similar problems.Very smooth, and trouble free when you get it right."

Can you be a little more specific on what you did to work out the problems to get a trouble free quite shifting Verado tiller?

Thanks,
Garry

Hey Garry:Will get you a complete diagnosis from Kelly he had the most trouble of us all,on a weekend fishing trip presently. As for the others it was mostly rpm's and proper H.P. hub that cured the trouble.Chico.

chico,

Exactly what do you mean with your comment "As for the others it was mostly rpm's and proper H.P. hub that cured the trouble"

Does anyone know if Mercury has fixed this problem (um-smooth shifting and noise) on the new Verado's with the Mercury big tiller power steering system?
