they are catching salmon right now, launching out of Olcott, using down riggers
if you want to wait a few more weeks, about the second or third week in September they will be coming into the lower niagara river. You use a 3 way rig with egg sacks, skein or artificials such as quick fish lures. Launch in Lewiston

The wind has screwed the bite up recently but if the weater gets stable go NOW, it will be good till the second week of september. You can fish 50-110 inside waters or fish mid waters of 150-300 or go offshore and catch more of a mixed bag of steelies, 1 and 2 year old fish all day long. If you want big mature fish they will be coming into the nearshore waters around Olcott as soon as the temp gets set back up. I'll be going back up for my 3rd trip soon. PM me if you want some details on anything I fish up there out of Olcott every chance I get and do pretty good. As far as launch, the town of Olcott/Newfane has a public launch (5.00) that is right on 18 mile creek, 1/4 mile from the lake, they have ice, fuel, 2 baits shops right in town, slippery sinker and boat doctors. The launch is nice and they have a sweet fish cleaning station.

Glow spoons early and late in the day and glow spin docs and fly's is what I like to run. When the sun is up I like chrome spin docs with fly's in blue's and greens.

King salmon fishing is awesome can't wait to get back up there.

We are catching some salmon.
A lot depends on the water temperature and
if the lake has turned over or not.
