Default Seals on lower unit power drive

Hey all,

While I am adding and upgrading my boat this winter I was working on the trolling motor. I took off the prop and saw some fishing line on the drive shaft. I took apart the housing, because it seems the line had worked its way between the shaft and seal. I removed all the fishing line and re assembled the unit everything is good to go but...

Should I be replacing the seals, and gaskets on the lower unit? Does Minn Kota sell a kit with them all in it? Or is that being over safe?

Thanks for the advice.

If the seals have been compromised; always a good idea to replace them.
Call Minnkota for parts information.

Hey thanks for the replies I ordered straight from Minn Konta. A new seals kit was $13 shipped. The kit was $3 and change and shipping was $9 and change. But 13 bucks I can live with. Cheap peace of mind.
