Default Walker Tournament Twist Downrigger Rods

A free rod and cannonball came with the Walker downriggers I ordered. The rods are also branded as Walkers--Walker Chinook Tournament Twist. The "Twist" is the guide placement on the bottom section (4 guides) as the guides are not placed straight but are offset in such a way that the last guide toward the tip section is about 180 degrees from the stripper guide. The guides on the tip section are all straight. It looks really weird but I'm sure it serves a purpose. Does anyone have any experience with these? One of them arrived with the top of the butt section fractured so I'm rather leery.
Thanks for any help.

[font color=green size=3][b]Sounds just like the rod I got with my Walker. I've used it over a year now, the twisted guides look wierd, but they put the strain where it needs to be, I like it.

Glad to hear you like it. Does it have a yellow tip? I'll be using my riggers for walleyes more than anything else, and the rods seem rather heavy, like more for salmon. What do you use yours for?

[font color=green size=3][b]I use mine for Lake Trout, I think the tip was yellow too, I bought an Ugly Stick to use for a second rod, one of them had a light colored tip anyway.
