Lindy Teddy jerk bait
Hello,
A friend got very excited last year when he came across some Lindy Teddy jerkbaits in a baitstore. The pkg'ing seemed old (not antique) - as did the dust on the packaging. Anyway he got one and convinced me to get one too. I haven't been disappointed having released a mid-30" pike and 2 muskies using my 6" teddy - incl a 41"er last week on Sabaskong Bay. Anyway, someone else told me that these lures were made of pressed wood. That scares me. Does anyone have any information about the history of this lure and what it's made from. Thx, D2Bucktail |

RE: Lindy Teddy jerk bait
D2,the baits have been off the market for some time.
Press wood? Not sure of that info.I doubt it. Definatly some type of wood,I would think more of balsa or some sort of soft wood similar. Definatly a nice glide bait to pull and very easy also,Not tiresome. Have a few myself.Take them out for a swim on occasions. Done well in shallow water as they ride just beneath. Oh D2,dont cough!:+ Good luck marc |

RE: Lindy Teddy jerk bait
yes I think pressed wood was correct. it was some sort of composite fiber type deal, and was not any kind of solid wood. I will bet my teddys on that. Packaged bait probably a collectors item already. Package probably worth more than the bait, did you save it?

RE: Lindy Teddy jerk bait
First6feet,Are you talking the same chip board compressed as I am thinking?
I thought that stuff swells like mad.Maybe my mistake or not exactly the same press wood as the chip stuff I am thinking. marc |

RE: Lindy Teddy jerk bait
no, this stuff has a very uniform consistent texture, but it is a composite material of some time, might even be a polymer but it aint a piece wood

I broke one about ten years ago. I believe they are made of urethane foam. A great lure in Oct. and Nov.

RE: Lindy Teddy jerk bait
Thx for the tip, however I think it lead me to a dead end. I called Capra's in Blaine and spoke with someone who told me it was not likely Ted had anything to do with the Teddy sold by Lindy. I'm sending email to Lindy right now and am hoping I get a helpful reply. Anybody else have any ideas?

RE: Lindy Teddy jerk bait
As the Lindy Tackle Co. was once owned by Al and Ron Linder you could try to get some info from the In-Fisherman network. I recall seeing pictures of the Teddie in their magazine.

RE: Lindy Teddy jerk bait
As a bait maker, I'm always curious in new (or old) designs. Anyone have a picture of this bait or know where I can find one on the net? What's it look like?
