Fished pool 18 this evening and caught some casting cranks on wingdams. Was a beautiful evening on the water.

I am looking at visiting some friends in Clinton and wondered about fishing the Mississippi while there. Is there a dam at Clinton? Which pool is this? How is the fishing in this area?

south of clinton is pool 14 and north of clinton is pool 13. both are great pools.

lots of wingdams to pick from. beaver slough and the sand pits are really good spots on 14. I don't fish 13 hardly ever (go up to the locks at bellevue in the winter) but its really backwatery up there. I know guys that do well around the savanna armory depot.

Anyone know if there is open water around Muscatine? I have the itch to go out but didn't know if there is much ice there or what the boat ramps are like. I was told the Toolsoboro boat ramp below 17 was still iced in as of the other day. The channel was open with some ice floating down.

Don't know about muscatine, but the davenport ramp is open and ice free. I haven't hard any fishing reports.

Fished New Boston today. We were only boat out. Only fished a couple hours. Water was high and muddy. No fish, but was nice to get the boat out for a bit.

Been fishing Bellevue for a few weeks. Was hit or miss to launch due to ice but fishing was good. Wide open now though. Since the rain last week the water has become dirty and the bite is tough. Lots of flow ice around. Still getting a few but it’s tough going.
