Default Central Iowa fishing reports

Thought it would be a good to get an on going thread for central Iowa reports.

Fished both Big Creek and Saylorville this weekend. Big Creek caught plenty of eyes but only one keeper pulling live bait. Saylorville caught some small eyes and nice crappie. Also sounds like the white bass have been hot at times.

Look forward to hearing your reports.

Would be awesome to keep this thread going strong, but maybe with some positive responses. Central Iowa anglers are pretty tight lipped if they do find a spot with decent eyes because if they tell anyone you'll have to find parking tickets

Very true and that's what I was worried about. You don't have to give specific spots, just sharing what tactics are working and water conditions would be good. I have a couple spots I won't be sharing either, but I'll for sure share tactics and conditions.

I'm game. Was figuring on hitting Big Creek tomorrow. If I can make it home yet tonight I'll be out there early.

Default Central Iowa fishing reports

Was on Big Creek by 06:00. Stayed until about 02:00, caught many Walleyes, all sub legal. Largest was 14 inches, the smallest was a fingerling. All caught on flicker shads.

Sounds like a typical day on big creek! Last Saturday I got a 17" on a crawler and a floater, seems like I always catch one keeper and that's it.

I have a buddy who works in the dnr and he says there's some giants in there. I have basically given up on that lake. What other lakes are you guys fishing? Storm is just a little to far but I've had some luck on 3 mile and a few on the Des Moines river. I fished little river last weekend but didn't boat an eye. I caught gills and bass on spinner rigs but did see other boats pull in a few but again they were 10"-12".

I fish the Des Moines in the spring and in the summer I mainly fish Big Creek, Brushy, and Saylorville along with a few smaller natural lakes.
