Default MarCum Showdown

Does anyone own a Showdown or ever use one? I have been thinking about getting one but wanted to hear some first hand thoughts..

Thanks for the help!

Go with vx3. You will be happier in the long run. Look up my post and there is another thread discussing the same thing. My question to you would be, why the showdown over a traditional flasher?

Being new to the flasher world I figured the showdown would show me what I needed and be a little easier to read for a beginner.

Not at all. You will the flasher figured out in no time. Go to YouTube for a tutorial if you must. Good luck out there.

BTW, only reason I suggested vx3 was it is the fist price point with zoom. A great feature to easily track the bottom.

Never used the Showdown but if you new to flashers I would suggest the Vexilar FL8 or if your budget can handle it the FL18. Very very easy to use and the bullet proof Vexilars not only perform flawlessly but will last you, it seems like, forever! Having the color and the zoom will catch you a lot more fish IMHO.

I have a single beam Showdown and two other guys I fish with also have them, they are pretty simple and get the job done.
NOW it comes down to the Marcum or Vexilar debate! It seems like a lot of Marcums have to be returned for repair, but Vexilars need to be returned also!
IMO, you would be happy with either the Showdown or the vex.
ANY electronics on the ice is better than none, you will find that out!

Thank you guys. I will look into the others. I am correct in thinking the FL-8 doesn't have zoom?

FL8 does not have zoom thats why I suggested the FL18. The zoom and color definitely is worth wild IMHO.

Other then. It having the zoom, everything I have read and seen about the Fl-8 is very positive.
Would you reccomend getting the soft carrying case and the magnifier?
