Default Small Horsepower Evinrudes Coming

Looks like the small hp Evinrudes will be 4-strokes and made by Tohatsu.

Not available to the public yet, but mark my word. Supposed to be early 2012. 3.5hp - 15hp "Evinrude"/Tohatsu 4-strokes.

Interesting, especially since Mercury's 30 hp and below are Tohatsu.

The Evinrude/Tohatsu story is true. BRP sent out dealer letters yesterday.

My understanding is with Mercury it's a Tohatsu powerhead on a Merc. lower unit.

OMG that is the weirdest thing Ive ever heard, and NO its not a Merc lower unit on the Tohatsus Mercs, its 100% a Tohatsu painted Black, now on the Pro Kickers they do use a Merc lower unit with 4 blade prop, but I sold Tohatsu and Mercs and compared the 25s, 3.5s etc, Same Nuts and bolts, Same everything minus Stickers and on some motors Mercs had different top cowls....just my 2cents...Why Evil'rude would do this is weird, I guess its another BAND AID, just like the Magnum gearcase on the HOs

I was hoping for a 15 Etech not like the heavy weight they have now. I will keep my Yamaha T9. A sweet motor.

Is there something wrong with a Magnum gearcase?

Nothing wrong with the Magnum. Its not as fast as the Lightning on faster boats but it is much more durable. A lot of the bass guys are upset because they are losing top end with the switch. I actually commend BRP for offering to change out current L2 gear cases and props with M2s and 2"s more pitch. (to make up for the gear ratio difference)
