How to "arm" new guidewear 4000 PFD
Well, at the risk of showing everyone just how stupid I am... I rec'd my new Guidewear 4000 PFD today and there was a big card in red that said it was NOT armed, and to "read my instructions and arm properly prior to use"
So, I look at them and it talks about re-arming (with a new co2 cartridge) but not how to initially arm it? Anybody got an answer on what I need to do? Also, either type REAL SLOW or use crayons... Thanks!

You have a Halkey-Roberts model. Here's some info that might help. Looks like there is only one way to re arm it, so it shouldn't be too hard. Looking at the cartridge in the picture...doesn't it just need to be screwed in? I have self inflating life jackets too, but never had to re arm any of them yet, so I haven't done it either.

I have the 3500, pretty sure I just screwed it in and then it shows armed.

You think you're slow? I got one last spring for my birthday and fished the entire year with it. One day in late August the C02 cartridge fell out onto the floor. It was at that moment that I realized it hadn't been armed the entire season I used it...

Hmm... Sorta reminds me of the story about trying out the new parachute before you really need to use it. Or maybe not.

LOL, thanks for the help AND for making me feel better about being stupid!!
One of the things that tripped me up was the packaging said: "Spare CO2 cylinder pocket" - I read this too quickly and thought it said I had a spare CO2 cylinder, not pocket, so I' was trying to arm the %$^ thing by magic at first I guess! Anyway, it's good to go NOW! Thanks
