Pole Anchor On Reata
Does anybody have any experience with a Power Pole or Talon on a boat like a Reata 1850 or other type of fish and play style of boat? I have a 1850 and we like to bluegill fish with the kids so a pole anchor is very appealing. However, with the ski pole attached I can't figure out how to have the pole anchor not interfere with the low line. Minn Kota has a tilt bracket but it's only supposed to be used when at rest, like backing in to a garage or clearing a bridge, not under power. Has anyone ever used the tile bracket and attached a Ram Mount to stabilize? Any input is greatly appreciated.

It will interfere with the tow line.
For blue gill fishing, you are only in a few feet of water, and the use of a light anchor is really not a big deal. You certainly don't need a 30 lb anchor to hold your boat. If you haven't tried it before, try drifting when pan fishing. You will often have as good or even better luck if you just left the boat drift; rather than staying in one place. Yes, the pole anchors work. But is it the best thing for your boat and for your situation? Only you can decide. If you like convenience, you can always have a quick mount electric anchor that mounts on a rear gunnel, that would take care of your shallow water anchoring needs just fine with no hassle and nothing in the way when you go to the garage or want to use your tow line. I have a Power Pole on an 1860 Angler. I am not sure how you can get around it being in the way if you want to use a ski pole. Mine is mounted to my boat with a braket sandwiched between the motor and transom. Anytime the skier would cut to the side of the pole you could run the risk of the line getting in the pole....

If you get the optional electrical quick disconnect plug the Talon can be removed in about 30 seconds give or take. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv6110TWHI0 Watch starting at the 4 minute mark to see how easy it is to remove.

I going to bump this to the top and see if anyone else has come up with a solution. I like bernmaster's solution and is one of the solutions I was considering.

I have a Talon on my Skeeter MX1825. If I was going to pull skiers, I would just tilt it down and use a bungee cord or similar to hold it down.
Or as Marcus said, it is easy to remove if you install a quick connect.

I was considering the tilt bracket also. There will be times when I would pull tubes but then want the Talon for beaching on a sand bar or shallow water to relax. So on certain days it wouldn't make sense to completely remove it. If I mount it on the opposite side as the boarding ladder it should be completely out of the way.
