Default 1198 on reata 1850, hope it works.

I just pulled the trigger on a 998c and 1198c for my 2010 reata. hoping it will all fit somewhere on the counsel. anyone tried this or done this or have any suggestions? the dash design in my opinion sucks but i am determined to make it work somehow. be nice if i had a little direction to go in before i try it. thanks.

Default In dash

I think you can buy a trim kit from Ranger that will allow you to flush mount the 998 in the dash, then RAM or Cisco mount the 1198 to the right. It's going to be a tight fit, but you should be able to figure something out. That dash/console setup it one of the worst things I have ever seen come from Ranger.

I personally would never dash mount any finder on a boat. Limits visibility and with a RAM, you can pull it out of the boat easily for whatever reason. I would RAM mount the 1198 on the dash and put the 998 on a RAM up in the bow, but that is me.....I am sure there is a way to cut the dash apart to do it, but then your stuck with the finder in one position. I troll with the kicker from the back and with the RAM mount on the dash, I can change the angle to see the finder still wherever I am sitting.

thanks for the replies guys, i am wanting to ram mount both units. would like to have both at counsel when pulling plugs and then move one to the bow when i am baiting. this my not work, but that's how i would like to do it. and yeah, like 1860 said, this dash is not one of rangers better ideas.

I own a 2008 Ranger Angler 1860, and have my 1198 RAM mounted to the right of the steering wheel. If you want to mount a 998 as well, you're going to end up securing the RAM ball to the top of the dash.

Looking at Jason's pic, it is gonna be hard to squeeze both units in on the dash? Especially if you have the RS dash design? That was the worst mistake in my opinion and I see they have fixed that on the new LS. My RAM mount ball is on the top of the dash, but that was the original counsel design too. Might have to be creative to make it work?? Good luck.....

i have a different style dash but thinking of doing something similar. going to have to get creative i know that. here are a couple pics i found on google, one shows that a guy took out the flushmount panel and mounted a hds10 in there, but the lack of view doesn't look like a good idea. other is just s stock dash pic. so i am thinking of going on either side of the steering wheel and trying that.

I know you want what you want, and I can appreciate that, but I would mount the 1198 on the console and the 998 on the bow, and use them extensively in each application before I worried about the second mount on the console.. The 1198 will have enough screen to split between gps and whatever else you want up for views..

Just my $.02

I agree with this, if you don't want to flush mount the 998 in the dash, I'm not sure you will have enough room for both on RAM's. I would sure hope that one 1198 on the dash would be enough, that thing has a huge screen!!
