Best way to ship a 9.9 kicker?

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Yamaha T8 kicker and need it shipped from Marquette down to North Tonawanda NY. I'm sure a few of you guys have done this before.. Can anyone let me know the best way about going about this? Simply drop it off at a UPS store and be done with it? Get a freight company to take care of it? First time I've ever shipped something this big.. Any help would be appreciated!

Your best bet would be to find a local quote or 6 to figure out the cheapest way to ship it. UPS around here is comparatively high for large items.

Fergie,
Put it in a very heavy box and be sure to secure it.
Then drop it off at your ups or fed ex store and ship it out.

If you want, you can strap it down to a pallet and drop it off at your local partial truck load shipping freight line as well.

Check with FedX. I shipped a motor strapped to a wooden pallet, a few years ago, and they were much cheaper then UPS.

Probably planning on draining the oil, but small Merc 4strokes are supposed to be laid down on one side only, can't remember which side of course. Not sure if the Yamahas are the same. Otherwise, oil can run into the powerhead.

On a pallet, and dropped off and picked up at a freight terminal would probably be the most economical.
