When marking a waypoint on the gps, is there a greater advantage to using the "average" or is it not necessary? I upgraded from a garmin handheld to a garmin 128. In the past, I just "marked" and saved.
Does it depend more on sattelite coverage? The manuel doesn't explain it much. Thanks for your input, Brad |

if you really want a detailed gps point (hump etc) i'd recommend you save 3 points around the area. that way you know exactly where it is. it sure saves time when your trying to locate a small spot, instead of guessing where in a 30ft area your spot really is.

According to my Garmin manuel, averaging is more accurate; however it takes more time. Apparently, the longer you let it average, the more accurate. I'll use it more when I'm on ice instead of water.
