We will be heading north to SD on June 17, and we have decided that we are going to fish Lake Oahe. We have not, however, decided which portion of the lake we should fish. We have been to Mobridge on two other occasions, but has been a few years. We have also heard the Pollock area is great that time of year. And, we have heard if we fish down near Pierre, that we can also fish Sharpe, which is gaining a rep for a great smallmouth fishery. We would love to combine a walleye trip with some smallmouth. We are still open to suggestions and appreciate any comments, etc. Thanks, JackSalmon

We have fished Lake Oahe in August for three years. Usually stay at Spring Creek Resort about 10 miles up river of Pierre. You will be close to good fishing where the Cheyenne River meets Lake Oahe. We usually troll the mudline with spinners and crawlers. Water levels have really dropped on this lake the past couple of years.

Hey, Come on Guys!!! We need some help here! We leave Arkansas in just a little over a month, and we are still unsettled on where we are going. We are leaning toward trying both places, go up to Mobridge, where we've fished before and fish our way down. We have our boat and camper, so we will be pretty mobile. Any comments will be appreciated! Thanks, JackSalmon

It seems I have given this same recommendation before - at that time you usually want to be between Whitlock's and Bush's Landing, maybe as far down as the Little Bend and Spring Creek ramps. But the best fishing usually sets up north and south of Bush's.Decent accomodations at West Prairie resort near Bush's. I would be wary of going all the way to Mobridge, I hear there is a severe lack of water at the upper end of Oahe. Good luck, I'll be there about a week later.

Thanks for the help. However, we have decided on Mobridge! Ugh! Hope there is enough water, and I guess we will find out. But, again, thanks for the comments. JackSalmon

Come on up. You will find plenty of water and you catch all the walleye you want, and if you know your bass stuff, you can hammer the smallies.-----The only problem with starting up north and fishing your way south is that you will never get south. At least not at this time of year.------good luck

Fish a little different area this year. Up by cow crick. I think you will be happy with that area. We have never been disappointed there.

Thanks for the tip, but being from Arkansas, I don't have the first idea where cow crick is!!!! Where is it from Mobridge? We are going to be staying at Mobridge, and in fact, we head that way one week from today. Thanks, JackSalmon

Cow Creek is way south of Mobridge. I would stay at Pike Haven about 30 miles north of Pierre. They have a long bout ramp and they put you in the water. Also you can litteraly craw back to your room from the bar-grill if that is your deal. If your hooked on Mobridge that's fine but I live out here and Pike Haven would be my choice this time of year. Have a goood one.

jack salmon------you should hit it just perfect. fishing the last four days has been great. had some friends here over the weekend and they all went home with a bunch of fish. we fished from walth bay down to the moreau river on both sides and caught fish every where we stopped. the word I get is that mobridge and north is hot also. it has been raining almost every day, so pack your rain gear. the hills are the greenest I've seen in years and the sweet clover is starting to bloom. Drifting a break for walleyes, and listening to the pheasants crow on the bank, what a wonderful time to be in SD.----enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
