I recently saw the show on Wabasha, Wis. where you were fishing on the Mississippi River. I began to research it on the computer and found something called the Alma Fishing Float in Alma, Wis. [there website has not been updated for 2 years]. My fishing is limited because of a slight handicap and this looks ideal for me and my wife. Does it still exist ? What would be the best time of year to go for walleye ? What type of gear does one bring along and what method is used, do they jig , 3-way with a floater jig, spinner harness on a 3-way ? This is something we can do, the old website says it opens late March, can walleyes be kept on the river then ? What is the daily limit ? Any help would be appreciated , thank you.

Check out clementsfishing.com Don't know a lot about it, but it is a barge/dock type fishing opportunity. It is near Genoa WI, which is a little upstream from Prairie du Chien WI and Lansing IA.
If anyone can provide info on either the Alma or Genoa operation, it would be appreciated. Walleye and sauger season is open year 'round on the river. Let us know if you go and what you find. Best Fishes, |

If you can navigate a few skinny steps down to the dock and handle a ten minute boat shuttle ride you can definitely fish on the Great Alma Fishing Float. If you are looking for eyes bring lots of jigs. The current is pretty strong so you will need a good amount of weight. any where from half an ounce to one ounce jigs are the norm. Hair jigs tend to be very popular, tip with a fat head cast quartering upstream bounce it back to you.

i use a 3-way swivel, 2' leader [10#], [12#] magnathin mainline, 6" dropper [8#] and a floating jig from northland, 3/4 oz. lindy shoe weight is my dropper weight which i pour myself, sometimes lose nothing other times as many as 25 weights, but always get everything else back. big walleyes and saugers and pretty good guys usually, just yell you need help and everybody comes running with nets. bob that was a great show by the way you usually hit the nail on the head, good job !!!!

For more info, check out www.IDOfishing.com These people fish this area and could possibly find a open seat in someone's boat.
