Default Places to fish for Muskie on the Tahquamenon River?

####o, everyone. I hope your having a great Muskie season.

I am heading to Tahquamenon River for the first time. Does anyone have any good areas to fish for Muskies along the river? Please be specific as I am completely new to the river system.

Also, does anyone know of some campgrounds with boat access on the river near some good Muskie fishing spots along Tahquamenon River?
Any tips on what lures to use on Tahquamenon River?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi muskiediver, We stayed right at the rivermouth unit of the state park. This is a real nice campground, right on the river below the falls. There might be better fishing above the falls but I wanted to leave the boat right in the water. There's lots of good water in this stretch, so that's where I would reccommend going, with maybe a day trip above the falls if the action isn't up to speed. We caught some mid 30" fish along with some large pike. You can troll up river and then drift back while casting areas that look good, which is everywhere because of all the wood structre. let me know how you do, and give a shout if you want anymore info.

Randy.

From the mouth, how far up the river can I go before there are obstacles?

Are there any shallow spots to be concerned with or is it pretty deep in the middle?

I notice some spots have very big logs floating upright. Any advice on what kind of lure to use near these big logs to avoid hooking into one?

I have never went Muskie fishing in a river. Any other advice or books to read?

Thank you.

muskiediver, Not sure of the miles upriver you can go, but it is quite a ways. i ran a 17' boat WOT thru that stretch without any problems. The shallowest water I can remember was 6-7'. Don't know what to tell you about snagproof lures to use. You can probably figure that out better than me. I can tell you that a lot of guys just troll down the muddle of the river and do well.

Randy.
