I just purchased a 10 amp 2 bank onboard charger that has 6' cables going to each battery. The owners manual says that I shouldn' alter the length's of the cables, but 6' won't reach one of my batteries. Why can't I splice a 5-6 foot piece of heavier gauge wire to the battery furthest from the charger? Would I still get 5 amps to the battery with the extra length cable or would it be 3-4 amps??
Any thoughts???????? Buck |

I have a pro Mariner three bank on board 15 amp. I had it installed by the place where I bought my boat. They used nice connection plugs and heavier wire so as not to lose amperage when extending the lines. My charger is in a rear compartment and my batteries (trolling motor) are under my twin counsils. 12 feet anyway. 18 foot boat. Kingfisher
