Default Imitation crawlers

What is the best imitation out there to imitate half a crawler on a jig that can be dragged accross the bottom with the same results or better than a live crawler. My son and I went thru 10 dozen crawlers in 2 days about three weeks ago in Canada about 48 miles northwest of red lake,on Roderick lake.I need an artificial that will work as well when cut in half or a third and dragged along the bottom on a 1/16 to 1/8 chartruse jig. Thanks superdav ps. you can e-mail me at davidmaas58@netscape.net

Default RE: Imitation crawlers

Dave,

The hottest artificial currently on the market that would fit what you are looking for is the Berkley Gulp Nightcrawler. In testing the product - Berkley found out that in a number of instances - Gulp actually outfished live bait. Gulp Nightcrawlers comes in a variety of colors - so you might want to experiment. My favorites are natural, pumpkinseed and watermelon.

Powerbait Power Leeches and Bungee Leeches also work well with the presentation you are talking about.

Good Luck,
