Vexilar Iceducer

I am looking at getting my first flasher this year. I am a little concerned with the float on this ice ducer getting in my way when landing fish. I really don't want to lift it out of the hole every time. Is there another option that will work with the Vexilar Pro Pack? If so where could I see a picture and description of this?

I thought the same thing when I got mine. But the only other option is a flexible arm, and the transducer will still get in the way. I really like the float setup, its very easy to lift it out of the hole, and just plop it back in the water when your done. With the arm setup, you have to re-level it, etc. What I will do sometimes to keep the transducer out of the way is to tuck the cord in the snow or something to keep it at the side of the hole.

I drill a second hole for the transducer. Any rig you get seems to aways get in the way. I made a bracket that holes the cable with out the float.

Will the transducer work the same if it is used on this flex arm and held level right at water level rather than running cable all the way down your hole? It seems the excessive cable and transducer down inside your hole would be more of a problem than the transducer sitting at water level. Once I got the fish up that high, I got her!

I mentioned this in a previous thred. You can buy yourself a small 4" hand ice drill for about $30.00 or so. I use a collaspsable 4" Mora ice drill. Cuts ice like butter because of its small diametor. I drill this smaller hole between my 2 ten inch holes and put the floating transducer in it. Its never in the way then.

I suppose you could do that. Like I said, I place the trnsducer at the side of the hole, normally I will coil up the excess cable and put a bit of snow on it or tuck it loosley into my vexilar box. Its not in the way that much.

drilling another hole is something I would do if I didnt plan on moving, sometimes I drill a bunch of holes in an area and go from hole to hole, so that probably wouldnt work too well for me.

this only works if the ice is thin. it rebounds off thick ice and the reading goes goofy.

the iceducer is the way to go, it can get tangled if you leave in the hole with a larger fish. If I plan on staying at a spot I drill 3 holes, no big deal with gas auger, 2 holes side by side 2' apart and a 3rd hole behind and between the 2 holes which the vex goes into. I then fish with a rod in the 2 holes one for each hand, the vex wlll pickup both jigs.

We go to Blue Mesa and Taylor. Taylor is our favorite, lots of 20" lakers to keep the kids busy, plus they ride the snowmobiles when bored. Blue Mesa should be very good this winter for Lakers, with lower water levels they should be easier to find. We make a couple of trips to Crawford for perch also. Good to hear 11 mile is frozen, Taylor should be soon..........
