Default Power Pro Question

I'm wondering what daimeter Power Pro some of you people use to troll with? Do you find it holds up better than Fireline of same Dia. Thanks

I've been using 30lb, 8lb diameter Power Pro for the past three seasons on Lake Erie. Did have a pair of reels with 20lb fireline that faded fast and started to fray a little so I replaced those with power pro. Haven't broke a line yet, pulling steelies, 20lb kings(incluing a 31.8 monster headed for my wall from Lake Michigan) and quite a few 'eyes.

Remember to run light drags, and use softer rods as this stuff don't stretch.

I have been using fireline since I first saw it at a sports show many years ago and even still have one reel with the 14lb line on it, which has faded to almost white but still works great.
The green is much better for line watching but does seem to deteriorate in the sun and break.
For the last three years I have been using more and more Power Pro in the 20lb-6 dia. with no problems at all. for blade baiting it helps alot with sensitivety plus is strong enough to straighten out hooks to recover some of your blades back.
I also use it to troll my deep diving plugs in the river, I get deeper diving and better action from it.
I really cant say one is better then the other though as I really like both. Watch rod choice though as something in your system needs to give alittle or you well pull lots of hooks free, so either use a rod with some give or a stretchy leader like big game or stren.

Power Pro will out last Fireline at least 3 to 1 , probably more like 5 to 1.

And that's really not far to Fireline because they are 2 different materials. Fireline is microdyneema, Power Pro is Spectra.

There is a new 15# test that's 5 pound dia. (if I remember right), that should be outstanding for boards.

Jim, Is that 15# test Power Pro or Fireline? I use the 20# test Power Pro myself.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I spooled up one reel with 30 lb. Power Pro last year and thought it was great, even used that reel ( Garcia 6500) to throw muskie baits too. It really casted well!! I'm going to spool my line counters with it this year now that I heard it lasts longer than Fireline too.

Marc, There's 2 new Power Pro tests: 15# that's 4# dia. and 8# that's 1# dia. That ought to turn those cranks up a notch.
