Default !/2 oz Hot&Tot Question

Hi,
I have a few 1/2 oz Hot & Tots and I have never caught any fish on them.I always use 1/4 oz and Rattle Tots.Does anyone do good on the 1/2 oz Tots for walleyes.

To be honest, we don't do squat on our 1/2 ouncers either. It's either 1/4 or rattles. Frankly, I rarely even run them anymore.

Same for us. BUT I don't know anybody that runs them either. So maybe if they got some trolling time, they'd be the right bait at the right time in the right place. The other sizes catch fish so I think we're all running with stuff that has produced in the past. (Now I gotta put some in the box just to see if they (1/2's) can catch a fish. Thanks!)

Same here. Have never had any luck with walleye on the 1/2 oz but have caught two nice Musky, one at 49 inches, on them while while trolling for eyes. Coach

Markbodie.
I'd have to agree with the other posts. The 1/2 ounce version, and believe it or not, the old Magnum versions used to work better on the Saginaw Bay when it's waters were cloudier. To be fair, I also think the bait fish populations were of a bigger and healthier size back then as well. The regular size thundersticks also took more fish back then. So with both the shrinking of the mature baitfish biomass and the cleaner waters, (in my opinion) the walleyes are keyed in more toward the smaller 1/4 ounce offerings.

1/4 oz. has out performed for me by probably 3-4 to 1.
I carry a few larger ones in case the water is dirty, but unless nothing else is working, the 1/2 oz. don't get used.

I use them on Lake Winnebago. They don't take a lot of fish but the ones they caught are big.

I use both the 1/4 and 1/2 oz. for trolling around the Ottawa, Ontario area. I must admit that the larger ones ( firetiger ) work better in the stained water of the Ottawa River and at night. Otherwise, the 1/4 oz "seems" to be better in the clear water lakes that have emerald shiners/smelt as forage ( bone, blue-white ).

Haven't noticed much of a size dfference in the fish caught, but maybe I just get mostly smaller fish.

Wouldn't want to be without either size. :-)

Pretty much the same here. Caught many fish on 1/4 oz. Hot N Tots. Caught very few on the 1/2 oz. size. A buddy of mine has caught several musky on the 1/2 oz. size. I only have 3 of the 1/2 oz. size. I have about 50 of the 1/4 size. As a matter of fact, I'm trying to boost my collection of 1/4 oz. Tots before they're all gone. I'm looking for HT05-074's if anyone has any they want to sell.

Hi,
A lot of good answers out there I think I will keep mine and try them in dirty water.
