Dan with colder temps predicted lows single digits do you think its possible we could make a couple of miles by next weekend? I know there is a lot of ifs such as wind direction and speed. Just wondering what your thoughts were on this.

Hey guys.
I'll give up some answers, but kinda thinking this thread may have been better asked on the fishing report page, even though it pertains to walleye fishing. Just a suggestion for next time.

Ya, its nice to be retired all right. Down side, the days are really long when you cant get out to do anything. And you can only sharpen crankbait hooks so many times a year.

Beisdes my successful Black Lake walleye trip on the first and second day of the new year, I've only been looking versus doing. The river will freeze over enough to support walking I'm sure by mid-week, even though it was kinda open yesterday when I crossed it in Essexville. There was enough ice around the edges and towards the middle that it wont take much freezing to seal her back up.

There are actually guys out almost a mile on the Bay, going out from State Park. Not using snowmobiles or quads yet though. Their parking on the ice and walking out. There was open water for a little ways after that at the Park, then ice again. With single digits predicted for the next 10 days, only a few days with no wind will lay some good foundation for deeper waters.
