I work as a courier. Made a trip today from Pittsburgh to Avon Lake. It looks like a nice place for a fishing trip this summer. Is there anyone from that area who can can give me some info about when to fish, where to stay etc?

your best bet is to hook up with a charter to fish off of lorain or a
party boat out of the black river.july/august would be the best for walleye/steelhead (charter) walleye/perch (head boat).as for where to lodge there are hotels /motels/resorts to stay. |

Mick,
As the other poster said - a few more miles to the West is Lorain Harbor on the Black River. There are many quality Charter Captains that run from Spitzer's Marina. The walleye fishing normally gets good in that area sometime in May and can be good all summer. If you've never fished for Steelhead consider a combination trip for steelhead and walleye in late June through mid July. There are several motels in the area ranging from a Motel 6 to the Spitzer Hotel on the river to fit various price ranges. Email me if you'd like and I can give you contact info for several of the area Captains. I don't have my book with me or I'd post the info. You could also call The Sportsman's Outpost in Vermillion and talk to Den for a referral for the area. He has most of the guys numbers in his shop. Den's number is 888-855-9032. Good Luck, Steve Carlson steve199132@yahoo.com |
