Is there a certain vertical jiggin depth where it does not become become effective.I have just got into vertical jiggin on rivers in the last couple years never tried it on lakes,I know the water clarity is a factor,just was wondering how shallow you guys vertical jig next to the boat?spamoose

If you are in waters that are much less than 10 feet, it is likely that the fish will be spooked from beneath the boat.
In such cases, it makes more sense to anchor away from the structure and cast to the shallow strucutre. Take care REW |

p.s.
If you are drifting a river, especially with current, you can often catch fish beneath the boat, much shallower - if the current is relatively swift. Howevr, in the relatively calm of inland lakes, the presence of a large strucutre, like a boat - intruding on the shallow domain of your neighborhood walleye, will likley have him packing his bags and scooting off down the lake.
