Haven't heard too much. As you know, everythings about 2 weeks "behind" because of the weather. Sorry, don't have any other insite.
I was out on Seneca Shoal today, fishing for smallmouth bass - nothing. I didn't feel bad, because none of the other 5 boats were doing any good, either! The water temp. was 55 degrees. It would be nice if there were more "Fishing Reports" posted by fishermen on the eastern end of Lake Erie. T man |

I'll be up this weekend. 60deg water is what seems to be the start of the good day bite, got a ways to go yet. Talked with a charter out of Barcelona 2 weeks ago they were taking a few fish. Be interesting to see if the long cold winter cut into the hordes of bait.

This is an uneducated guess, but I think that you central/east basin guys are in for a banner year this year (like those of the recent past). The bait seems to be thinner overall and the Lorain bite is already pretty solid. Lots of big fish moving east. I hope so. The WWA at Fairport is in 5 weeks. Also another PWT at Dunkirk in July?

There is also a WPA (western PA) tournament out of North East July 26th and the KAWA (Kinzua Allegheny Walleye Association) will hold a 2 day event from Dunkirk August 16/17.
We need some good hot sticky days and nights..warm up that western and central basin and your hogs will come to visit! |

I second that on a banner year. The bite has not been this good in years off vermillion and lorain. Not to mention this early. Marking tons of fish from vermillion to lorain. Just a matter of finding an active pocket. So much for the doom and gloom of Erie. Funny how from one year to the next you don't see those doom reports. It's all about stable weather and the lack of baitfish. I'm looking forward to getting some eyes off cleveland this summer. My boat is almost ready. I just hope we have a better spawn year.
Good Luck!! Tim FRick |

I spend most of the summer fishing out of Dunkirk, and will post reports to the fishing report tab once things get going.
We have been told by the local conservation people that there was a good hatch a few years ago, and we should expect a good year. I fished a couple hours this past Saturday and Sunday....didn't mark anything, never had a rod go....but the highest surface temp I got was 59, and once you dropped past 10 feet, it was running in the low 50's. I have heard of a few fish being taken on the reef west of Dunkirk at night....that usually happens in mid-May, not mid June. This weekend starts the Southtowns Walleye Association contest, so I expect more information to begin flowing once those guys get on the lake. John "Times Two" |

I don't wish you "down east" guys any bad luck but I am trying to stop as many walleye as possible from heading your way :). We are still catching some really nice size fish off Kelley's Island. My surface temperature shows low 60s while the weather buoy shows 57 degrees.
