A nice side benefit, if you have your notebook on your boat, is the ability to connect your gps to the pc as well.
Many of the gps software mapping programs and various brands of gps units, will easily interface to a pc. Thus you can use the power and display of your pc, to now get the depth information, and use the gps software and hardware to view maps, and you can further - get software programs, so that you can interface the depth capability with a software mapping program to generate your own maps. i.e. with the depth finder connected to your pc, as well as the gps, and an apprpriate map generating software, you have everything that you need to generate your own lake maps. -- For example, as you go over various spots, you can use the program to use auto save techinques to store depth points as a function of position. Then use the map making software to generate a continuous map of the areas that you have explored. Take care REW |
