I would like to take a trip to the Red River in Minnesota/North Dakota. I was wondering if anyone can give me any ideas of what areas or nearby towns would be good for me to go to. thanks Al

If you want to stay in US the Grand Forks area is a good place to start. Lots of numbers 6 to 18lbs. I hope you were not thinking of coming soon the river is flooding dew to rain. It has been out of banks for 2-3 weeks and wouldn't be down for a week or two.
Winnipeg manatoba is the place to go for big cats, 16-26lbs. Lockport on north side of town. The high water doesn't effect if much. If you want more info drop me a line I'd be glad to help. Brian ifishgs@cs.com 701 746-4501 |

I just read that the DNR surveyed the Red and also found lots of cats in the Red in and around the Fargo area.
There is no question that the farther north, the bigger they get though. Tom B |

Wahpeton, ND has a nice little campground on the Red. Last time I went past it (a couple of weeks ago) it looked like the dock was washed out. There's been a lot of water in the area so be sure to check ahead wherever you go. Good luck!
