Going through my cranks, I have a lot of hooks that need to be replaced.
What sizes of treble hooks should I order for No 5, 7 and 9 Rapalas?? |

One size bigger...8, 6, & 4. My preferred hooks are the Mustad Ultra Point Triple Grips...be careful putting them on, a split ring pliers works best.

You also might try using a red treble in front.

I go one size larger and use a light wire hook. Heavier hooks will dampen the lure action on the smaller lures. Some I've found that even with a light hook it will kill the action going larger especially small floater rapalas. I use a DAIICHI light wire a little pricey but a very sharp and strong light hook. The #4's work well on jigging spoons.

I'll second the Mustad Triple Grips for light wire and Gamakatsu if you fish somewhere there might be bigger fish.
Only go larger if you are fishing open water. Where I fish, I downsize the hooks because I need to pull them through lots of cover. Upgrading the quality of the hook can be a big improvement. The Reef Runners come with excellent walleye hooks, the rest of the brands I use get replaced out of the box. |

We replaced our hooks with 1 size larger. We also don't run the front hooks, they just get in the way.
Most of the charters I know don't run front hooks. |
