I'm going to try some flies/streamers this summer. The water will be 15-30 feet, clear, and current between 1-2 mph. I'd like to hear some suggestions on the best way to fish them, and some size and color pattern preferences that people may have (also, where can I get some?). I typically fish bouncers with spinners or plain crawlers in this area of the river system. Any good stories involving walleye flies?

I tie my own in a variety of colors and sizes. Use a bottom bouncer like a Lindy rig and see what hits. You can either troll or drift.

Wolly Buggers in size 6 or 8 work for walleye's here in early spring. Kind of a dual purpose fly. Might catch a steelie or walleye. Unfortunately, most are caught after season closes so have to be released, oh well. Natural colors like black, cream, brown, green are good. Purple has it's days. Gander Mt. has 'em, I think Bass Pro does, too. An old reliable pattern.
We bottom bounce them on a standard 3 way rig.

Here is a setup they use on the wolf in the spring.Tie on one threeway swivel and put one fly off the first three way add a 2-3foot length of line off the second and tie another three way and a second fly and a 1-2ft dropper for the weight. This setup may not be legal in some states as you will have 2 baits out.You can pull this with the current on rivers or against it but you will need to adjust your weight accordingly.Colors in green, orange and reds are good choices. These are tied in bucktail too. Also they can be fished with or without bait. This is a killer whitebass rig too.
