Default Inline Planer Boards

I am considering purchasing a couple of inline planer boards for trolling on lake Erie. Which brand do you guys recommend? Church? Offshore? Any others?

I like Offshore, be sure to upgrade your front clips to OR-18 snapper releases, you will never have any line slip through and lose a board with these, braid or mono. I use the red OR-16's on the back, the black ones they come with won't work to well, expecially in rough water.

Yep, Offshore here too. Don't use them as much as many here on the forum, but tried them all and now have Offshore.

I prefer the church boards. You can give them a snap and not fight the board all the way in.

No I do. I just prefer a church board thats all. Run out the line, cinch a rubber band on the line, put line in from release, pull the peg in the rear and put the line in the slot and the rubber band loop. send out board. When a fish is on, snap it, reelnaughty style, just like you are snapping a planer release. The board will then flip backwards and the rubber band in the back peg will keep the board from running down to the lure.

I learned it from reelnaughty and its kick butt.

Also with a church board unless you break your line, you never have to worry about losing a board.

Offshore boards with Church clips, best board with the best clips.

I know I'm in the minority (nothing new about that!) but I've always run church boards. They are good to go right outta the box..not necessary to spend $$ upgrading clips etc. Easier to use when fishing by yourself IMHO.
