Default offshore boards, how do you attach them to your line??

I was wondering what method people use to hook up the offshore board to their line and why.

Do you use the clip on the arm and on the back of the board, or both clips on the tow arms.

I know what the instructions say but is their one method you prefer and give me some reason why, they run better in rough water? Faster speeds etc...

Thanks

i use one on the arm and one at the back. i also run a tattletale flag setup. it makes it easier for my wife to watch the boards.... but, and she will admit even big walleye over 11lbs won't always make that flag move. time is the only way to learn how to read boards. the flag setup just helps on the learning curve. if you run 2 clips on the arm you don't have this available. the tracking of the boards is a bit better with both on the arm but to me not worth it.

"both clips on the arm" ?????

I've just started using them (havent caught a fish on um yet). I have the black 19(superline) clip on the arm, and a red clip on the end of the board.

What you mean by "both clips on the arm".

its just another way to run them. One clip is in the normal position, the other is on the trailing edge of the arm pointed to the rear of the board.

the logic is that its easier to grab and release them from your line (you can do it with one hand since they are close together) and they tend to track a little better.

I used to run them this way but went back to the orignal config. Then I added tattle flags and the rest is history...

DO you guys run the tattle flags with deep diving crankbaits?

I use mine boards with Deep diving crankbaits for fall fishing and was wondering if the crankbaits would put too much pressure and pull the flags down.

The deep Reef Runners will pull the flag down. Most of the other deep divers don't pull hard enough.

You can buy a heavier spring at most any hardware store. I believe the number that corresponds to the original stock is C-73. We upgrade ours to a heavier spring for pulling faster speeds and deeper stuff on Erie to the C-63 spring

Step #1) Attach line to front stock clip. Step #2) Attach line to stock rear clip. Step #3) Start Trolling. Step #4) Chase down board that has become detached from line. Step #5) Purchase expensive Off Shore Snap Clips or replace with Church Clips. Start over! LOL!!! Step #6) Ask yourself why you didn't purchase the Church Boards from the start!:duh:

I have the Church boards also and don't like the way they run.

Tried both on Quinte and much prefer the offshore in rough water.

OK, To each his own! The Church Boards do the job here on Lake Michigan, as a matter of fact, if I don't need to large of a spread the TX-6 Magnums are my choice. Enjoy your Offshores, mine are fine now that they have the Church Clips on them!}( LOL!!!!
