Used my MarCum LX-3tc for the first time at LOTW. It worked fine in the "normal" mode, but when I zoomed in both the 5 and 10 ft. modes I could not see my jig on the zoom side (left). I pushed the zoom buttom, pressed the down buttom until the two yellow lines were at the bottom. I could see the jig when I moved it up and down on the non-zoom right side, but did not see the jig at all on the zoom side (left side). Is there something I'm doing wrong?

If your jig is near the bottom you might not see it until you press the the arrow down key, this will move the area that you are zooming in on lower in the the water column. After you press the zoom button you then need to press the up or down arrow button to move the area that you are zooming in on, by default I think it zooms in on the top 5 or 10 ft. depending on how many times you pressed the zoom button.

I had the same thing happen with my LX-3 today intermittently. It was the first it was used. I also had a period when the unit would not pick up anything. The guys I was fishing with kept asking why I was playing with my zoom and gain. I don't know why Marcum has the up and down arrows on their zoom. The vexilars seemed much easier to operate. Maybe I need to go through the manual, but at this point I am thinking of returning the Marcum and getting a Vexilar. The Marcum was a little clearer, but that didn’t matter when I could not find my jig.
It was very frustrating. |

I had a similar issue with my LX3 and I called their support line. The was fantastic. I shipped it back and they fixed it for nothing. (transducer and board) Works perfect. Very impressed.
