Question 150 Opti or 150 Verado

I am purchasing a 18' alum boat and can't decide what motor. The boat will be used for general fishing, cruising, and water sports. I would liike to know from current small Varado owners [4cyl not 6 cyl] how quiet the verado is compared to the Opti. I know the big ones are really quiet, but don't hear much about the smaller ones. It is about $1200 difference in price to go with the Verado.
What's your opinion
Thanks

I have a 175 vrod on my 18 ft lund and I love it. Very quiet. Not as quiet as the 6 cyl verado but way quieter than an opti or a yammie hpdi. Go with the verado. This is not your typical 4 stk engine. awesome holeshot, great top end. Smooth as silk. Sounds like you are spending a nice chunk of change, dont get cheap, get the vrod. It is nice not to have to buy oil all the time too. optis are great engines but the verado is awesome!!!!

I have a 96 XR6 150hp on my boat. I was thinking about repowering. My first thought was the 4 stroke. After I read a bunch more, I now am leaning toward the 2 stroke. I've read great things about the new 2's. Not bashing the 4's just my opinion.

I have a 135 HP Verado and my buddy just bought a new 150 Opti. We spent two weeks this summer fishing in Canada with our boats. After that trip my wife said, "If we ever get another boat you will get another Verado"
The smaller Verado's, at least mine, are definitely more quiet the the Opti's. Not sure you can order digital throttle on the Opti, but that is really a nice system I have with my Verado.

Either engine will be good for you.
But I love Verados.
I have the 4 cyl 200hp on my current boat.

I sold a lot of 150-and 175 Verados. Far more than Optis.... by a lot.

Everytime I took somebody out for their first ride in a Verado powered boat...they were impressed.

At our elevation (4000') the Verado is clearly the better choice. Heck, it's better at any elevation if you can live with the extra 100 pounds.

I have a 150 Opti, have fished with guys with 150 and 175 Verado's. They are superior in most aspects, IMO.

Will your boat have a kicker? will you be trolling? I have a Opti and love it. But I might have changed my mind if I didn't have a pro kicker on the back and would be trolling with it. Opti's really load up if used for trolling. I think the Opti is more fuel efficient as well or atleast it was when I bought. I don't think you can go wrong either way, its just preference. Just FYI I had an opti then a yam 4 stroke then back to a opti and still prefer the 2 strokes. Plus you know when im coming LOL
