Question Walleye Spinner Rigs

Going to add Walleye Spinner Rigs to my Website and I would like to hear what color combos and specific product attributes you look for in your Walleye Rigs.

Please post your comments or send me a private email. mike@saresky.com

Thanks, Mike Kansas

Default Might sound like a wet blanket...

I don't know if you can economically compete with the "make your own" crowd. I generally do not re-use spinners after a day... I cut them and reuse the beads, clevises, etc... And, at one point I use to buy pretied snells... but I never had the confidence in them that I do with my own. I use premium quality hooks and line... I glue my knots... I keep 20 or 30 tied snells on a noodle if I need to retie a good setup...

Colors and such vary some much day to day and certainly from one body of water to the next (at least in my twisted mind, I believe it makes a difference)...

I don't think I have bought a harness in years... I have "traded" for some that were working until I could duplicate them... And, have had fellow fishermen give me a few...

That having been said, I would make up some "generic" colors of chartreuse and green, purple and black, black and white, all chartreuse, all purple, teal blue and black and all teal blue... with quick change clevises, premium line and hooks... and I would put a small barrel swivel at the front instead of just a knot... A quality product... At that point, what can you charge? Good luck!

Mike, I cast mine so I like one hook. Also like the idea that the other hooks don't get in the net :-) Most of mine are like a mayfly rig -- 13 - 16 inches or so, #4 ad #6 beads, quick change clevis and I like Octapus hooks (I like them a lot). We use them behind in-line sinkers so we sometimes put a cross-lock swivel snap on the end instead of a loop. Use a lot of gold blades -- smooth, hammered, diamond cut. I have also started using more of the custom ones that look like my favor trolling spoons. I use 17 and 20 pound flouro for the stiffness. Don't know if any of this helps? Athough I supply the rigs a lot of customers bring their own and most purchase them already made up. I seldom troll them but would probably still prefer single hook.
