Wanting to upgrade but hate to not get the newest thing and trying to decide if I should buy now or next spring ??

If their 09 models work like their 08 models do I`d look else where.
I just replaced my X510c with a older model Vexilar Edge2. I had a Lowrance x75 that worked great like a fool I had to upgrade to the junk they make now.
have to install the Vexilar yet. I`m hoping it works better than the 510 did.

If you have a graph that works good don`t bother upgrading. Wish I didn`t. Lowrance hasn`t got a shallow water freeze up fix yet let alone even acknowlege they have a problem.

Go to your sonar setting and select shallow water preset...problem fixed.

There is no shallow water preset on the 510. I sent it in to Lowrance twice. I went from software version 2.3 upgrade to 2.4 then down to 2.0. The first time the gragh was sent in I also got a new transducer thinking that was the problem. I`m done. Lowrance acts like my graph is the only one with this problem and its news to them.
Between the to software changes I was on the phone with Lowrance and the tec had me set the graph to manual mode and preset the graph in different modes according to what depth I`m fishing. So then I`d have to get into the menu everytime I went from shallow to deep water. I didn`t shell out $500 on the latest and greatest for this. The 1999 X75 is a better graph.
I bought a new old school Vexilar Edge2 to replace my X510c. I don`t know what I`m going to with my new POS X510c. I can`t in good conscious sell it. Ican`t afford to eat $500 either. Lowrance won`t refund my money. Its not the problem of the retailer I bought if from. Trying to get it fixed through Lowrance put it past the return policy timeline.
Do some research I`m not the only one with this problem. For now I say stay away from Lowrance! It`s sad because when you go to a store display the Lowrance graphs are the nicest looking but they have to work. The quality in simulator mode too is greatly exagerated it doesn`t look that good on the water.
The Lowrance X75 I had was a great graph. If you have something that works stick with it, wish I did.

Although you mean well, Lowrance has software issues with several of their units in 10 feet or less of water. My LCX 25C worked wonderful until I upgraded the software to 1.7. I went back to 1.6 to fix it and it did. Then when 2.1 came out I decided to upgrade for the added features. Lo and behold, I cannot get the graph to lock in if it gets below 10' if there are any weeds. I went through troubleshooting all the various adjustments and sensitivity settings and still, no luck.

What a hassle...takes forever to get a warm body and when you do, you are unable to convince them of this ongoing problem.

I had the same problem and talked to suport at Lowrance. They told me in version 2.1 to set my preset to Shallow Water and it worked. I often bounce and jig in 2 to 6 feet of water with no problems tracking bottom once I changed the setting.
