Default Binding Gator Mount

Anyone have any tips on how to mount a gator mount so that it does not bind?

I'm not very handy, so don't be afraid to throw out basics.

I put the isolators underneath the mount and then bolted it down. It binds so bad I can't get the motor out of the water. Thanks

If the mount opens and closes free and smooth off the boat my first thought would be the mounting surface on your deck is not flat and when you tighten down the isolators you are twisting the mount .
On one of my old boats I had to mount a 3/4" piece of plywood wrapped in carpet on the deck and mounted the bracket to that.

good luck
