Default SmartCraft Troll Control and Prop Question

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this board but I have been finding lots of great information over the last couple months and hoping for a little more!

I've recently purchased a 2008 Alumicraft 1750 Trophy with a Mercury 115 EFI 4-stroke. After having it out a few times I'm considering adding a SmartCraft SC1000 tach to tap into the Troll Control capability. Does anyone have any experience with these units on the 115? Is the installation something a DYI'er like my self can handle or should it be done at the dealer? Are they all they'er cracked up to be?

Also, for this combo doe anyone have a suggestion for a SS prop? The factory aluminum prop (unsure of pitch or size) is okay but there is deffinatley room for improvement. Comes on plane fairly quickly, tops out at 39 mph (gps), and turns up to 5800 rpm. I have about 8 hours on the motor now so this may improve with time too for all I know.

Thanks in advance.

-Kevin

Kevin,
I've installed (2) Smartcraft SC1000 Tachs on my own engines, and assisted in others. I certainly consider it a DIY project, as long as you get the correct data cable and gauge. Send me you email address through the WC system, I've got an installation pdf created to show you the hook-up.
