how many hours labour for taking a tiller 60 hp motor off a boat and installing it onto a new boat wiring and set up plus swaping boats from one trailer to another which includes adjusting rollers, ect ? Plus trolling motor connections ? The Dealer said 3 to 5 hours ? This is a new 1775 classic Lund Tiller new and the 1996 Pro Angler 17' has a hole in hull that was wrote off.

3-5 hours is a decent typical number.
If you want to do it yourself, and if you want to take special care and so a bunch of "special things." then you might want to allocate 3-5 days to the job or 3-5 weeks, or even 3-5 years. It just depends on how dilligent you want to be, and how much care you want to exercise. To unbolt a motor from a boat and bolt it on a different hull, with good lifts etc. it should take about 10 minutes. To adjust the rollers on a trailer that is about the right size for the boat should take another 10 minutes. -------------- Having said that, and also knowing all of the problems that always seem to crop up in rigging a boat, I would dedicate at least a 1/2 - 1 day to fully rig a boat and get it working the way that I wanted. This would be with good tools and good knowledge of what you were doing. So, I would say that the 3-5 hours is about right for most situations. It might be less or it might be more, but it is certainly a good starting point. The key thing in a rigging is to do it right - no matter the time involved in getting it done right. Nothing worse than sloppy rigging when you get on the water and start having problem and having to fix the results of the sloppy rigging. Take care REW |
