Default Correct shaft

Good morning. What would be the correct shaft if running a Triton Allure 192 and 200 Mercury Pro XS? Thank you for your help.

Default 25"

I didn't think Merc made a 200 Opti ProXS in an XL 25" Shaft? It's not on there website anyway.

Default Shaft

You are correct. However, I've been told the 20" of the 200 HP Opti Max Pro XS will work very, very nicely with the Triton 192 Allure. Is this true? Do you agree?

The transom just does not seem that deep. A 25" shaft seems excessive and might slow down the boat and make it less fuel efficient. Fishing mostly on Leech Lake in MN.

I'm not aware of the 20" shaft working on any deep v boat 'cept maybe the skeeter wx1825. I wouldn't chance it... The boat needs a 25" shaft. Call triton to be sure... It wasn't an option when I bought mine and I did ask why merc didn't make a 200 pro XS with the 25" shaft.

I would really be concerned if a dealer told you a 20" shaft motor would work on a 25" transom boat!!! Run, don't walk to another dealer. Second, look on triton's website, they don't even list a 200ProXS as an option when building the boat! I don't mean to offend you dude, but do a little homework. You can't put a 20" shaft motor on a 25" transom. Look at the website.......

Agree regarding the shaft length. But if you can put a 200 Opti on that boat I'm sure you can get a 200 Opti XS on it as well, sure it's not listed but I have ZERO doubt one could get one - not a 20 inches however like you state.

Am doing the homework and that's why I'm asking you folks. Am getting conflicting information. Want to get the best advice possible. If you can offer additional helpful input that would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Like i said, I went down the same road a year ago. 20" shaft doesn't work. Your best options are, 175 pro XS, 200 Opti or 200 Verado.
I chose 200 Opti and I'm still playing with props because I'd like to hit 60 MPH. Best to date is 58.3.

With the use of a Jackplate the engine would work.

Some confusion was from my own lack of knowledge and some was from differences in the order documentation. One doc said Mercury 200 PRO XS and another doc said 200XL OptiMax. We're going with the 200XL OptiMax and Triton is making sure the correct engine gets on there. Just FYI: Bay Manufacturing (419/449-4602; www.baymsg.com) makes a shaft extension kit - don't know how it works but Mercury Marine mentioned this business to me.
