I don't know why I let my brother talk me into fishing today for how bloody cold it is. Plus they were calling for 15-25 mph winds. Luckily, the winds were not quite a strong as they predicted. Still very windy at times, but fishable. Anyway, my brother Kenneth did much better than me. I set up fairly deep again in 49 feet of water and never had any walleye come thru until 6:00 pm! It was a big school though as I had several fish on the graph while trying to get the one fish I caught to bite. But they didn't stay around long and I ended up with just the one 22 incher. Kenneth was in 37 feet of water and caught his 1st walleye about 4:30 I think. But he had walleye moving thru off and on until just after dark. He ended up landing 3. They were all around 21-22 inches. It seems like we have a strong year class in this size right now. All in all, a nice evening fishing with my brother...
Ice conditions...Plenty of ice just about everywhere (as you might expect). Travel is good too with only about 6 inches of snow on the ice. Probably have ice until June if things don't change weather wise! Getting close to 3 feet at the north end of the bay in spots. At least that is what I heard. We haven't had that much ice in years. Well, time to clean my fish and go to bed dreaming of walleye for breakfast...
