400 b cullcutta vbs brake adjustment

how does one get the left plate off tried loosen 3 screws right side pushed inward no movement on left plate to release .........

the brakes are attached to the spool itself. The left plate does not come off. YOu need to loosen the three screws on the right side like you did and then pull off the right side and pull the spool with it. On the spool you will see the brakes. Just remember when you are putting it all back together that you make sure that the thumb release is in the up position otherwise it won't engage and you will have to loosen the screws and do it again.
