Default problem with windsheild on 215

I run a 2007 215. I love the boat. Triton has been exceptional to deal with when it comes to customer service, they have continually addresed this problem for me. I have been having problems with the walk thru windsheild.Triton has replaced it twice and unfortunatley they are scheduled to do it again. I would appreciate any advice as to how to shore up the windsheild or any info on how to minimize damage to it. Thank you

Default windshields

Stonecold,

I don't know what is breaking on your windshield, but I will tell you their are only two major windshield manufacturers and they both suck! It doesn't matter what brand boat you own, if your out in rough water consistently your windshield will eventually break.

If your a tournament fisherman I would highly reccomend putting the plexiglass windshields on. You would have to glass in the holes from the windshield but the consoles are the same and the plexi's would fit perfect. Your boat is extremely dry riding so the only thing you may miss is when it gets downright cold and nasty!

Make sure you thru bolt your windshield if your putting a new one on. We will also put thru bolts in place of some wood screws located on the frame, but be super carefull if you do this, one wrong move and she's busted.

CHALLENGE FOR ANYONE......come up with a windshield that will stay together in rough water, you will sell it to every boat manufacturer in the U.S.......unless their cheap!

Default problem with walk thru winsheild

Thank you for the response. Question, you suggest a plexiglass windsheild. Is that utilizing the walk thru frame of the winsheild with different glass such as the plexiglass, or are you recomennding eliminating the walk thru windsheild and installing the bubble type winsheild that can be placed on the 215.

Default yep

The 'Doc' is right. I can't speak for Triton but I've had full shields on Sylvans, Skeeter, Fisher, and Ranger. They all failed in rough water. I went back to the high bubble screens. I only miss the full shield early spring and late in the fall when it's cold.
IMO the hulls flex, twist, and move too much in rough water for a full screen to stay put. How you'll drive the boat in those conditions also has an impact on weather a full shield is the right choice for you.

Default really...

PJ,
You must not have drove it like you stole it!!

My dealer told me to take my new pick-up across a rough plowed field at 60mph and see what breaks.
Made sense.

Triton's and Rangers and other walleye hulls can handle alot of abuse but everything attached to it CAN'T...I used to drive it like I stole it and had a half a winshield come completely come out of the track and had to put it in the back of the boat for the rest of the ride in (35 mph in nasty washer machine 3-4's will do that), glyde rydes made the ride better for your back and backside but the boat still takes the beating even if it doesn't feel like it. On my last rig I had plenty of stuff break and come loose....now I slow down and avoid beating myself and my boat completely, nothing is breaking or coming loose, including the windshield.

Windshields break due to operator error...period.

Like PJ, I've never had a problem with my windshields. I "drive" my boat. I don't just put the throttle down and go.

A little common sense goes a long way in protecting your investment.
