Anyone have any experience with these boats? I have been looking for a tiller model and Triumph tells me they do not make one. But, I found a 2008 "17' Open" at a dealer across the country. From the 3 pictures on their web site it sure looks like a tiller. I have an 08 60hp Yamaha tiller I would like to put on it.
I am interested in these boats due to their advertised ease of maintenance and durability. Always had aluminum boats and fish the Mississippi primarily for Walleyes and Bass with a few trips to bigger waters each year. Any info on these boats would be appreciated. |

I don't know about the 2008 models, but the 2009 17' models are not set up as tiller boats.
They only make the 17' in a center console and a dual console. I never saw a 17' Triumph boat set up as a tiller boat. For years at the boat show in Miami Beach, they would have a sledge hammer at the booth, and they would let you hit the boat, to see that you couldn't break the hull. The finish on them is very dull. Tin boats have a nice shinny finish like an automobile. Glass boats have a nice shinny finish because of their gel coat finish. Since this boat is made of a certain kind plastic it has a dull finish. Also if you add accessories on this boat and want to screw things into the hull, it's best to thru bolting everything. If you use a self tapping screw it will loosen up over time. The boat is basically indestructible. They didn't catch on in a big way here in Miami Beach. On a typical day I might see just 1 or 2 of them. Miami Vice |

Without trying to learn all the search functions of a new site, can you just post a link? I'm also interested in hands on knowledge of this boat. Seems like the perfect boat to tie off to the dock all year and not worry about rash. |

I just talked to the dealer and was told that these boats were specially ordered from Triumph for a Canadian resort. This dealer told me that they were Triumph's largest dealer and that's why they had two in stock. Apparently these are the only two available. He's going to send me some more pictures tomorrow. |

Neil,
The pictures defiantly show a center console boat. If these boats were made for a Canadian dealer, how did they end up in North Carolina? Miami Vice |

These boats are being manufactured for Totem Resorts in Ontario on Lake of the Woods. I saw a prototype of these boats at the resort last year. The guides that were testing these boats said they liked them. I have no first hand experience, but I will in July. They did not appear to be as deep or wide as the other boats in camp but as I said the guides said they were good riding and seaworthy.

eyeman_1, if you happen to remember in July I'd be sure interested in your opinion. It's a 17 hr drive to look at these boats. But, thinking we may do it in a few weeks for the heck of it.
I did get several more pictures from the dealer and from what I can tell from those it looks like a nice rig for the fishing I do. |
