Default What Has Happened With Tracker?

As previously posted, this has been a fairly quiet and friendly winter. Have not seen any posts regarding Tracker at all. Their website is still looking good although the dealers for western WI and MN have seemed to evaporated. Gander Mountain (selling 'utility boats' only, whatever they are) and one in Clearwater MN are pretty much all they show.

One would think that with this economy a package priced product such as Tracker would be appealing as an alternative to perceived top tier/price options. Perhaps not enough margin or floor planning issues?
Or maybe they have not overcome the quality issues that were present on many posts last year, including mine. Or just maybe the type of dealers they attracted were of marginal resources and have fallen victim to the fallout.

I enjoyed the two I had, and had no problem selling the recent one quickly and at a good price. I hesitate to replace with another Tracker considering the possible lack of support and resale prospects because of this and the economy.

I guess you're right...just checked for dealers. They list Gander Mountain and the other dealer you mentioned. I've been to the Gander Mountain in St. Cloud ,MN...the utility boats are John Boat type setups.

I think they've probably felt the crunch of this bad economy and have pulled out of many locations. Sadly, I think we're going to lose a fair amount of dealers before things get better, IMHO.

I hope they still have the Targa's around after this fishing season. I hope to get mine replaced this coming fall.

Rumor has it Gander Mountain getting out of boats completely. Also I heard Crystal Pierz may have something going on with Tracker but not for sure.

The gander in Wausau,WI has had the same 18' Tundra for sale for almost as long as they've sold Tracker boats.

The lower priced models sell quit well there I think.

Based solely on my hunches and nothing to do with any facts whatsoever, I think they are suffering from the ever expanding reach of the internet into outdoorsfolks. The quality/support problems often get blown up to be much worse than they really are (but they still are a huge problem) just because of the large numbers of boats they sell. Couple that with the economy, and it must be hard. I think people are still buying boats, but there is a huge used market now where higher quality boats can be had at great prices. People that are still buying new may be looking for a longer term investment and are more discriminating about quality. The person looking for a cheaper boat can now pass on the tracker, and pick up a better equipped/built used boat instead.

Like I said, just my thoughts based on nothing in particular.

Sadly enough, there's going to be some big losers in this economy and then some big winners when and if a recovery hits.

Bass Pro Shops themselves have the Tracker Line of boats available. I beleve as others have mentioned economy is driving the issues. Since the big chain stores are "weathering" the financial storm, they are also the ones who can carry inventory and risk. In the area you are referring Bas Pro has 2 major outlets, so it isn't surprising that the smaller dealers paid the price.
